[Week 06] Time Is Life
Hello dear, sweet, potential future player! Nice to have your eyes back on us (and our text and images).
So without further ado: Let's give it everything we've got! It's...
DEVLOG TIIIIIME (slams hammer)!
Unbelievable Imagery (UI)
Remember the latest post? There we posted a concept of how the UI should look like! And guess what? It does not look like that at all. At least not yet. There are still a lot of things we need to do and test (for example the size). Right now it is just a tad too big. And definitely a tad to pink. Btw pink is the default shader error color in Unity. So now we are always remembering our mistakes and errors we did in (Time Is) Life. Until we fix them. Thank you Gregg.
Here you can see Cereza collecting a coin and a time shard. If you look closely, the UI updates accordingly. (He he they will never notice that we are just pressing a button at the right time to force the update. What did you say, Gregg? We are not doing that? Oh.)

The walking (eh sliding) dead
Cereza right now just does not want to die! She's just a precious baby full of energy to go and slay enemies. And I bet she will have plenty of energy left afterwards. Oh god, what if she comes and starts slaughtering huma...
Well guys you know what? There will be a horror DLC coming. We will announce that later. Maybe.

I'm not your puppet
The artist working on the rig and weight painting finished it and with it, all her sanity left. There are still some weird issues appearing that keeps us from implementing it into the game, but we are working on it. Pinky Promise!

Bang Bang, you shot me down
And I will do it again. At least that's what our enemies are thinking. How do I know? Well, I told Gregg and Wout to make them think that. And I can make them do even more things (evil smirk).
But as you can see, they were testing out a pattern where 4 Bullets get spawned by the enemy at the same time.
Here we want to show you the beauty of deadly projectiles. Our little guy is clearly having soo much fun! I want what he has. Lots of dark matter balls.
This is a more practical approach. The blue Tier 1 ghosts won't have this particular bullet pattern, but the Tier 2 enemy will have something similar. Speaking of which:
Look me into my many eyes
You know what they say: "Eyes are the windows to the soul." But we asked ourselves: "What if you don't have a soul? Is it just a window then? A black hole? The portal to another dimensi... Sunna please stop bullying Gregg! Wait bully... bull... Bullets! That must be it!"
Yeah and basically that is the reason all our enemies attack from their soulless eyes. Oh and don't worry, no Greggs were hurt this week.

Welcome to the Cortez (Part 1)
In this section, I wanna take you around and show you what we've done in terms of the look of the level.
First, We lowered the contrast on the ground tiles because we got the feedback that it could potentially make people feel seasick. Don't get us wrong, we want to make you sick! Lovesick with our game but not seasick!
Next, we have walls now. Well I mean we had them before, but now we have beautiful, fitting, art deco spooky purple walls! They still need to be implemented tho in the main level. So no beautiful, fitting, art deco spooky purple walls in this weeks build for you :( But feel free to keep looking at the image forever (or until next week)
Finally, We have the shape for pillars now! They serve the purpose to break up walls and add more layers to the environment. I am still working on the textures we are going to use but even in grey, they look super stylish. And it's no coincidence that they kinda look like tombstones as well.
A song of Ice and Fire
The level features light probes now. They are still in a draft but the basic functionality is there. They allow us to influence the light on dynamic elements while benefiting from the performance of baked lighting! Super fancy!
What is more to come?
Nothing. We are done. Every DevLog is written and the game is practically finished! Thank you for staying by our sides for so long and we hope you enjoy the game!
Well, obviously that is not the case. We will continue working hard on Time Is Life! In the next week, the 2nd Production Sprint will start. And I think I can spoiler the following: We will start working on starting to pleasing your ears as well!
In fact, we already have the first draft of the main theme on our hard drives. For that, we are super fortunate to get a young talent on our team that helps us out with sound and music!
We are not going to share anything just yet cause we still need some things to be finished first. Until then, we will vibe to our amazing secret music while you can enjoy this week's build!
