[Week 04] Time is Life
Hello future ghost slayer!
This week we started on the first sprint of the game.
We wanted to share a bit of our progress.
New Level Layout!
We remade the level blockout it now looks like this.
If you compare it with last weeks DevLog you can clearly see the differences!
But since no one has time for that, let me give you the special service:
The differences are mainly in added elevation and slanted walls here and there to create/maintain a better level flow!
Oh and we also started experimenting with blocking the player's view from the eternal void of empty unity scenes.
It's alive! It's allliiive!
Our programmers added the basic mechanics to the player and enemy.
- player movement
- player dodge
- object pooling
- enemy movement
Everything went pretty smooth, but one of the programmers had this funny bug when trying something new with the player movement here are some gifs.

Pixel Party!
Our pencil people let the pencils fly and created some really cool concepts for not only the environment main structures and materials but also for the first enemy and most importantly, our character! But first the boring but still very cool stuff.
(Unless you find characters boring and the ground you are standing on exciting)
This is the ground material entirely done in Substance Designer which means that it is fully editable in the game engine itself. With the touch of a button, we now can create countless variation of this one.
There is, however, still a bug in the creation of the texture maps in Unity itself but we already have an idea where the bug could be hiding so we are positive to get everything running. In the mean time have a look at the material in Substance Designer:
Enemy!
We have the concept and a model already for the first enemy type! Our Game Design Document makes it very clear what the purpose of this little guy is.
I quote: "The weakest of them all.
Dies after one hit and is just there to be an annoying little pest."
Oh. I thought I could pet it :(
Character!
And now here we are. Ready to reveal the main protagonist, the one who is starring in this marvellous mayhem! We want you all to meet with Cereza!
Cereza is a determined girl in her twenties to find a way to get rid of the curse given to her by the Lich Queen.
The curse is that her weapon is draining her life when being in the ghost world. The Lich Queen tried to stop her from killing her by this but Cereza is determined to get her revenge!
We hope you all try to help her as best as you can on her quest to free herself from the curse that makes her job as a ghost slayer so much more annoying.
