[Week 02] Time is Life

Hello everyone!

Welcome to our game project "Time is Life" that we will be working on for the next months.
Time Is Life is a very fast paced game in which the player tries to find the exit point in a dungeon. Enemies are putting the player in a bullet hell while he tries to defeat the clock as time is running out.

The amazing team working on this project are Gia Bao Lam, Glenn Quintyn, Steven Serra Mock, Sunna Sól Sigurðardóttir & Wout De Bolster.

What did we do this past week?
As we are still in the prototyping phase our week consisted out of continuous researching, testing & prototyping.
Our programmers started making the first prototypes of our game in both Unreal Engine 4 & Unity. We wanted to test both engines so we could see which one would be bring the best out of our game.
Meanwhile our artists researched the artistic limits of Unity as this engine is more unfamiliar to them as UE4, the main question was "Are our options limited compared to UE4?", the answer was no. They researched the animation, vfx, shader & post-processing pipeline.

In the end, we choose to work further with the Unity engine as we can only see advantages : the programmers code faster & more efficient in C# which would save us programming-wise a lot of time while the artists found a lot of artist-friendly tools to make the progress go smoothly.

Furthermore, the artists started working on the first draft of the art bible. What style are we going for? How will we achieve this? Which pipelines will be used? A lot of important things got decided so our vision of the game (art-wise) has become more clear.

What are our plans for next week?
Good question!

The programmers will proceed on the prototypes by adding new game mechanics so we can get a better feel of how the game would end up playing.
Our artists will work further on filling the gaps in the art bible while starting the designing phase of the main character & enemies.

See you next week for another weekly update!
